In February 2023, I received a surprising and joyous invitation.

Rose from Pain de Mie Cafe contacted me via her Facebook page, inviting me to hold an exhibition in mid-June.

The prospect of showcasing my work at Hsinchu, despite the distance from my home, filled me with excitement.

This was a golden opportunity for a wider audience to appreciate my work.

The fact that many renowned artists and illustrators had curated exhibitions at Pain de Mie only added to my anticipation!

When deciding on the theme for my solo exhibition, I thought that since I had already done a coffee shop illustration tour in Taipei, my exhibition in Hsinchu would be the local coffee shops!

I used Google to search for recommended cafes in Hsinchu near Pain de Mie.

Finally, I selected eight beautiful cafes and started my cafe trip!

I used a different method to draw the draft. In the past, I would directly draw and colour on a 10 cm square of paper.

This exhibition requires more significant works, so I first drafted it on a regular paper barrel, then enlarged it to the required size before printing it, and finally traced it on watercolor paper using a light table .

It’s fun to record the desserts and maps I eat with drawings!

After this solo exhibition, I received a lot of encouragement and praise from people.

I am very grateful to the store managers, Rose and Dongdong, for actively helping me share on social media.

I got unexpected results and sold more than ten works.

The surrounding products also sold better than expected.

The only regret is that the watercolour experience class that was planned to be held during the exhibition was cancelled because no one signed up.

However, this is also one of the motivations. It gives me more ideas about the path of an illustrator.

It is not only necessary to improve my painting skills but also very important to learn marketing to promote my work.

Next, I will continue to share the warm pictures I created with everyone.
